what makes for influence
On Monday someone form Mosaic Life sent me info about Time magazines list of 25 Most Influential Evangelicals It included most of the usual names and cast of characters the left behind guy Lahaye and his wife, Franklin Graham, Rick Warren and several others I did not know as well as T.D. Jakes and Brian McClaren. The some of the folks including the Lahayes, Graham, Jakes and McClaren appeared on Larry King.
I had a couple observations. First there seemed to be a pecking order. Most questions were presented first to Graham or the Lahayes then Jakes and McClaren got to respond to their comments. (see transcript)
I was also struck by how often McClaren and Jakes were completely on the same page. In fact I can’t recall something they didn’t agree on. I am probably biased but I think is a reflection of something I’ve always said, the afro-Christians and emergent folks have more in common that not.
Finally looking at the list it would seem to suggest that with the exception of Jakes, McClaren, and one hispanic evengelicals are conservative, white, and southern. True or false?
Videos clips and a related story here another list of influential christians
