yoga as spiritual practice

Published by Andre Daley under yoga

OK I have decided to blog at least once a week about yoga. These posts will be either reflections on yoga as a spiritual practice or info about what I am experiencing in my yoga practice and teaching. So here goes.

I have uploaded some new pictures which can be views on the yoga page by clicking on the yoga tab at the top of the page. They are outdoor shots of various yoga postures done in preparation for and promotion of a Holy Yoga workshop event I am leading on Sept 27th at Mosaic Life Church.

The workshop with focus on exploring the three main parts of yoga. breath, postures and meditation. It will be a good experience for all levels of yoga practitioners interested in yoga as Christian spiritual practice and body prayer.

I’ve also started teaching a Yoga Fit class at Calvin College from 12-12:45 Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I’ve been teaching the Mon night all levels practice at Mosaic Life. I will start teaching two practices again on Mon and Wed nights at Mosaic Life after the workshop this month. Mondays nights will be a advanced beginner intermediate flow practice and Wed night beginner to advanced beginner suitable for anyone even those new to yoga.  If you are in the GR area check it out.

yoga teacher training

So early last month I completed the training for yoga teacher certification at the Holy Yoga teacher training retreat (check out pictures) It was an awesome experience meeting and working with people of faith who are doing authentic yoga as Jesus followers. A great community and connection was cultivated and I really relished the teaching and spirit of Brooke Boone founder of Holy yoga and the inspiration, motivation, and encouragement of Dawn and Alisa the other teacher trainers. The daily meditation times led by Amy were awesome and brought incredible spiritual focus to the yoga practice that followed.

BTW I haven’t eaten so healthy in ages.

Now I am leading/teaching two yoga prayer practices at Mosaic Life church. Prayer flow (vinyasa) for those who really want to sweat on Mondays @ 5:45 and level 1 on Wednesdays @ 6:30
