lenten easter reflections

Now that we have finished a pretty pretty heavy schedule of activity during Passion( Holy) Week @ Mosaic Life I’ve had some time to reflect on what we did and its spiritual impact.

On one hand it felt like we had a just bit too much going on. So maybe we  will scale back a bit next year. One the other hand our church community was really blessed by our Seder dinner. Many of our faith community as well as some who were not made good use of our labyrinth and other spiritual practices during the week. One of the few people who came out to the Passion of the Christ showing stuck around after to thank me personally for making it available. Two of our six grade boys decided to fast on Good Friday with the rest of the faith community. Our Good Friday worship was the first experience for a church shopping family who returned for the Easter Egg hunt and Easter worship. We met many people from the community Easter egg hunt, including some residents of Eastown who thanks me for our work in the community and another who asked how we could get others churches to be as involved. We had great participation in worship on resurrection Sunday with God’s vision for us reflected in those who were present all ages, races, social backgrounds and faith expressions.

So all in all it was a time of connecting and deepening spiritual activity. So maybe we won’t change anything. uh-oh maybe this is how traditions are born Wink

The Search for Jesus

Published by Andre Daley under faith & culture

The search for Jesus CSI Jesus Like many other religious figures Jesus is getting a lot of press lately. The Davinci Code, the recent elections and the political voice of some religious folks has got people asking. Who is this Jesus that they follow? What was he really like? How would he respond to the actions of his current followers? Over the next several weeks Mosaic Life will dive into these questions as a community. We will explore the life and many faces of Jesus in the scriptures as we try to be more like him in our daily living. Who was he? Who did he say he was? For eight weeks we will explore images of Jesus in scripture and through the lens of our culture. We’ll explore who the images of Jesus in the scripture match up with the images of Jesus in movies, music and other and cultural media. Our explorations will include: Jesus as Lord: Jesus as the Prince of Peace: Jesus as fighter: Jesus as Healer: Jesus as Lover of our soul: Jesus as Friend: Jesus as Savior: Each week scripture texts for the bible will be available to read and explore and deepen our perspective on Jesus.

count down to launch date

Published by Andre Daley under announcements

With our Grand Opening date now set for Nov 7th we are counting down the weeks before our official birth. We have been doing tons of stuff in the community and worshiping weekly for three months now we are putting the final pieces in place needed to have a complete church experience. The first and most important piece is prayer without God, none of our preparation means anything so we are praying that God will sustain us and bring those into our community who are meant to be here.

the passion of christ

Published by Andre Daley under church planting

I saw the Passion the week after it came out with several folks from Mosaic Life. Some of us saw more of the movie than others (since some of us watched through fingers). my thoughts… well done movie. accurate? for the most part though there were some Hollywood moments (read moments of artistic license) like the tear drop from heaven leading to the earthquake (straight out of earthquake the movie) but in general they didn’t detract from the accurate telling of the story anti-semitic? i don’t think so the roman soldiers came of as the most stupid and savage people involved in Jesus death. many of the religious leaders did not participate in the process leading to Jesus crucifixion. most powerful outreach opportunity in years? not by a long shot. while i think followers of Jesus need to engage the conversation that come from the release of the movie, we need to remember that everyday of our lives is an opportunity to invest in other in ways that give us opportunities to hare our faith my two bits

24 - Passion the real story

Published by Andre Daley under conversations

24 hours of Passion. What’s the real story. Starting March 21 our M-Life group will begin a three week small group study called 24:Passion the Real Story. Through exploration of the scriptures we will explore the Passion, purpose and personality of Jesus Christ. We’ll get beyond the hype and the critics to explore the biblical account of Jesus 24 hours of passion.

Whether you’ve seen the movie or not, if you have questions about of all the buzz you’re invited to explore the story as the Bible tells it. Talk about the differences between Mel Gibson’s interpretation and the scripture story; discuss the impact of the movie and the impact of what is called the “greatest story ever told.”

All nations music

Published by Andre Daley under church planting

In my music gathering this spring I discovered a song that reflects the values of Mosaic Life. Its called All Nations from Christ for the Nations Church in Dallas TX.

The words of the chorus are:

Every nation every race find expression within this place
Every culture every race find expression to give [God] praise

I had a real vision of Mosaic Life being that place while singing the song one day. It was a really moving moment as God helped be visualize his design for
